

Friends of the Topeka Zoo, Inc., a 501 (c) (3) organization was established in 1964 to provide support to the Topeka Zoo. A membership-based organization FOTZ has approximately 4,800 member households. FOTZ members receive free admission to the Topeka Zoo and free or reduced admission to more than 180 other zoos and aquariums, discounts in the Leopard Spot Gift Shop, a subscription to the Zooreka magazine, discounts on educational programs, members-only night and provides ongoing support for the Topeka Zoo.
Each year FOTZ provides funding to the zoo for education, conservation and exhibit enhancements as well as sponsoring special events. FOTZ also dedicates funds to provide educational and career enhancement opportunities for zoo staff in accordance with AZA guidelines. Some of the exhibits supported by FOTZ include the Security Benefit Children’s Zoo and Pavilion, Hill’s Black Bear Woods, Lions Pride, the Orangutan Exhibit, Eagle Exhibits and the Gary K. Clarke Education Center. Throughout the history of FOTZ its mission has been to make the Topeka Zoo a family-oriented destination with a variety of educational opportunities for all ages.
The Zoo Tomorrow campaign is the first capital campaign for Friends of the Topeka Zoo and the first opportunity in 20 years for private individuals and businesses to support the zoo through their financial support.
